Algoma Music Conservatory Concerts 2010-2011

Cheboygan Concert Series 2010-2011

The Cheboygan Arts Council has announced its 2010-2011 Concert Series:

Sunday, Sept. 12—Ricky Nelson Remembered, with Matthew and Gunnar Nelson. ($24/.

Wednesday, Nov. 17—Vienna Boys Choir ($38/$12.50)

Thursday, Jan. 13—Russian National Ballet production of Sleeping Beauty ($38/$12.50)

Family Life Dinner Theater Season 2011-2012

The Family Life Dinner Theatre season has two Norman Foster comedies bracketing a drama. The season begins on October 19, with Opening Night, by Norman Foster, which is billed as “probably the funniest show we have ever presented”. Opening Night plays through October 22.

Night Must Fall, a thriller by Emlyn Williams plays February 15 through 18, 2012, and the second Norman Foster Comedy, Mending Fences, plays March 28 through 31. All are directed by Michael Hennessy and staged at the Great Northern Hotel and Conference Center, 229 Great Northern Road with dinner at 6:30 and the show at 8 p.m. The Family Life website is www.familylifetheatre.com

Sault Musical Comedy Guild

The Sault Musical Comedy Guild will present Mel Brooks’ The Producers in May; and Annie in November of 2011. Tickets are $44.80/32 before January 1 (a 20% saving); $47.60/34 after January 1 (a 15% saving).

Dates for The Producers are May 11 through 14; for Annie, November 23 through 26.

Sault Symphony 2011-2012 Season

Tickets are now available for the Sault Symphony’s 2011-12 season, with a special inducement to buy your season ticket early. If you buy before February 15, 2011, the special September 24th concert—A Celtic Celebration with John McDermott, for $10 off.

Sat., Nov. 12: Musical Mayhem, with special guest Quartetto Gelato. $34/15

Dec. 7 through 10, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m.: The King and I, directed by Timothy Murphy—a full stage production. $37/15.

Sat., Feb. 11: Klassical Kaleidoscope. $34/15.

Sat., April 21, at 8 p.m. at Kiwanis Community Theater Center and Sun., April 22, at 2 p.m. at LSSU’s Art Center: Once Upon a Time: A Night of Fairy Tales. $34/15.

Sault Theatre Workshop 2011-2012 Season

The Sault Theatre Workshop has announced its 2011-2012 schedule, which begins with Albertine in Five Times by Michael Tremblay, a joint production with the Chippewa Theatre Guild in October. Lee Ann Pearson will be the director. Production dates are October 12 through 16, in Sault, Ontario and November 4 through 6, in Sault, Michigan. (Audition dates are Chippewa Theatre Guild (Eureka Street) Monday August 29 and Thursday, September 1, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sault Theatre Workshop Studio Theatre (Pittsburg Avenue) Tuesday, August 30 and Wednesday August 31, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. See Artistic Opportunities for details).

Robinson Crusoe, the Pantomime by Steve Shaw, plays November 30 through December 4 and December 8 through 11. Kristy Wilson will direct.

The Sugar Bean Sisters by Nathan Sanders plays February 22 through 26, with Val Horsepool directing.

Over the Tavern, by Tom Dudzik plays April 25 through 29.

The season ends with Studio Gems, an evening of one-act plays June 6 through 10, and the Quonta one-act festival workshop.

The Sugar Bean Sisters and Over the Tavern are both comedies. Albertine is “a powerful exploration of the life of one woman during five distinct period in her life”.
